Direct selling business has become legal in Nepal since the 10th Magh 2076 (January 23, 2020). The Direct Selling Business Act was enacted in 2074 (2017), and the bill was passed unanimously in Parliament when Commerce and Supply Minister Min Bahadur Bishwakarma was in office. According to this act, the regulations for direct selling were passed on 10th Magh 2076, granting legal recognition to direct selling businesses in Nepal.

1. What Is Direct Selling Business?

Direct selling is a method of selling products or services directly to consumers through one-on-one interactions, home parties, or online platforms. Consumers who purchase products directly from a company and recommend them to others can start a business with no initial investment and earn profits. Direct selling offers a valuable opportunity for everyone in Nepal, where, if we work honestly and follow business rules, we can achieve substantial income.

2. But Why Many People Call This Business a Fraud, Scam?

Historically in Nepal, before the law was established, some companies exploited direct selling for illegal benefits. Companies such as Unity Life International, Herbo International, Gold Quest International, Crystal Vision International, Best World Business Link, and Robius International defrauded millions in the name of networking businesses a decade ago. This negative experience has led many to wrongly define the business today. However, it is important to note that before 2074, there was no official law or act governing direct selling in Nepal, which allowed some companies to misbehave.

Currently, any company operating in Nepal must obtain a license from the Department of Commerce, Supply, and Consumer Protection and must also deposit a security amount according to the regulations. The department must monitor licensed companies every three months. If you are starting a direct selling business, it is essential to check whether the company has obtained a license from the Commerce Department and to be aware of the laws regulating PDF direct selling in Nepal. This is crucial as many companies are still defrauding Nepalis of millions under the guise of direct selling without proper authorization

3.What Kind Of Company Is Good?

It is not possible to label a company as universally good or bad; each company can have its own merits. However, from a consumer’s perspective and considering Nepal’s living standards, a good company is one where the products are not excessively overpriced compared to market rates. If a company only requires purchasing products to become a member, it may be legitimate. Conversely, if a company requires buying a significant amount of products or investing large sums of money to join, it may be operating unlawfully. Be cautious; if you are investing large amounts to join any company, the responsibility lies with you.

  • Conclusion

What I advise you is that you can choose a good company and make your career in direct business.

    Hello,
    I hope you’re doing well.

I’m reaching out to explore a potential collaboration with you or talent specialists who have strong local networks in Nepal. I’m currently expanding operations for an international direct selling company and am seeking dynamic, growth-oriented individuals interested in entrepreneurial opportunities—not traditional salaried roles.

We’re looking for motivated individuals across major cities who are open to building independent businesses as partners. If this aligns with your expertise or if you have access to such talent within your network, I’d love to connect and discuss how we can work together effectively.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to the possibility of working together.
    Warm regards,
    Abhinav Mishra
